Reason 3: Edwards brings championship experience to Buffalo

Lost in the wake of the youth movement in Buffalo, which is for the better in the long run, is the loss of leadership and experience. A huge part of what made Poyer and Hyde so successful was their intelligence and mental understanding of the game of football, which they gained over time. They have helped numerous defensive backs in Buffalo get better. Not to mention, Tre White always helped coach up younger cornerbacks like Christian Benford, and Mitch Morse was always a leading voice for the team. Edwards, while young still, brings tons of experience. He was the safety on two different Super Bowl-winning teams and can help fill that leadership void.

The Bills' closest chances at a Super Bowl have ended in heartbreak the last few seasons. The team just can’t finish the job, whether it’s coaching, players not performing, or the defense collapsing in the clutch. It’s always good to have guys who can get it done and have experience in those high-pressure moments. The Bills have two players now, Edwards and Von Miller, who knows what it takes in the clutch to get it done and win a championship.

Edwards has played in 11 career playoff games, with seven starts. In those games, he’s recorded 45 tackles, seven passes defended, and three interceptions. Just this past February in the Super Bowl with the Chiefs, he recorded seven tackles, four of them solo, and a pass defended on 97% of defensive snaps played. Having guys who have played on the biggest stage is always a plus, and the Bills just added a guy gunning for his third.
