Josh Allen entered the NFL as a seventh overall pick by the Buffalo Bills in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Doubts swirled around the Bills' draft pick, with fans and analysts alike predicting a quick flop. The original plan was to have Allen sit for a season, but injuries and complete ineptness at the quarterback position facilitated Allen's quick ascension to the starting role in Buffalo. Since then, he's become one of the most dynamic and productive quarterbacks. So much so, that Pro Football Focus ranked him the best seventh overall pick of any draft since 2015.
"The No. 7 overall pick has been a sweet spot for NFL talent, but Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen -- not to be confused with edge rusher Josh Allen, who was also picked at No. 7 -- is the best of the bunch. Allen is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, as evidenced by three straight elite overall grades."Pro Football Focus
Josh Allen has done things no other quarterback has done
Since coming into the league, his career has been littered with firsts. He is the first quarterback to score 40+ touchdowns (passing/rushing) for four consecutive seasons. In 2022, he became the first QB to throw 100+ and run for 20+ touchdowns in his first four years. He also became only the second rookie to throw three or more touchdowns in a game, with two more on the ground. He's also the only quarterback to have rushed for 6+ touchdowns in four consecutive seasons. OK, one more for you. He is also the only QB to have thrown for over 300 yards, run for over 60, and score five touchdowns in a playoff game. These are many of the reasons I laugh at anyone who says Allen isn't one of the best in the league.
