Jets player tagged as x-factor in preventing Bills from repeating in AFC East

Most of the media is down on the Buffalo Bills in 2024, but I wouldn't count them out just yet. One media outlet has the Jets with one player that could decide the outcome of the AFC East.

It's true that there have been a few changes to the Bills roster, and with the Stefon Diggs trade, that seemed to be the nail in the coffin for the many in the national media for the Bills. However, the Buffalo roster is still solid, and as long as Josh Allen is under center, you can never count this team out. One writer from Bleacher Report believe the New York Jets could contend for the AFC East title: however, it's dependent on one player.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has a lot to prove in 2024. At 40-years old and coming off an Achilles tear it's a bit surprising that the expectations for him and the Jets offense is as high as it is. Yet, here we are once again with the New York Jets as the offseason Super Bowl winners. Has there ever been a team that fans were more excited about before the season that totally let them down? I get it, Rodgers suffered the injury four plays into the 2023 season, and while he would have been better than any of the other Jets starting quarterbacks from last year, we haven't seen Rodgers be the Rodgers of old in a few years.

Are the New York Jets the team in the Buffalo Bills way to winning a fifth straight division title?

Maurice Moton of Bleacher Report states that Rodgers is the big X-factor in the AFC East. If he returns to his former MVP-level play, the Jets could be a dangerous team within the division and the conference. I somewhat agree, but I'm also not sold on the rest of the team either, particularly their head coach Robert Saleh. He might be the most overrated coach in the league. Again, I know he hasn't had a quarterback worth much, but he supposedly has one of the best defenses in the league, a terrific running back in Breece Hall, and one of the top up-and-coming wide receivers in Garrett Wilson. And the best you can do is back-to-back seven-win seasons.

Not only does Rodgers have a lot to prove in 2024, but Saleh's tenure with the Jets is on shaky ground, and he has a lot to prove. So much so that this could be his final season coaching the Jets if he doesn't secure a division title and earn at least a playoff birth. But if they do, what is their long-term plan at the quarterback position? The Jets are in a difficult spot, and I don't believe the team can handle the pressure of the Super Bowl or bust situation they find themselves in heading into the 2024 season.
