Hall of Fame QB gives Josh Allen some well-deserved high praise

The Buffalo Bills are absolutely blessed to have a quarterback like Josh Allen on their roster. For many years in the early 2000s and going into the late 2010s, Bills fans had to endure a rotating door of starting quarterbacks. Every three to four seasons, it seemed like there was a new quarterback under center in Buffalo.

Once 2015 came around, the Bills started to have some sort of stability at the position with Tyrod Taylor, who will forever be known as the quarterback that helped the Bills break their 17 year playoff drought. They were able to accomplish this in Sean McDermott’s first year as the head coach in Buffalo. However, the Bills were still in search of a long-term quarterback because Taylor was not the guy at the end of the day.

Fast forward to the following offseason’s NFL Draft and the Bills were one of the few teams that were looking to get their hands on a franchise quarterback. The biggest wonder was which one it would be. Let it be known, Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen was the guy for Brandon Beane.

Looking back at this draft class, the Bills getting Allen at #7 overall was the biggest steal of the draft. The only argument that could be made was the Baltimore Ravens trading up for Lamar Jackson with the 32nd pick.

Since Allen has been drafted, he has helped lead the Bills to five consecutive playoff appearances while also winning the AFC East division for the last four seasons. Since 2019, Allen has the most touchdowns by any quarterback (203) in the league which includes Patrick Mahomes.

Allen has received a lot of praise (as well as criticism) throughout his career. Former Colts legend quarterback Peyton Manning gave his top five quarterbacks list at Fanatics Fest in which Allen was placed on Manning’s list.

Josh Allen being on this list should be no surprise

Say what you want about Allen’s turnovers. Over half of the league would take Allen’s mistakes because they know the upside he brings to the Bills in terms of talent. Without Allen, this Buffalo offense is extremely limited. Ever since his 2020 MVP-like season, Allen has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

Outside of Patrick Mahomes, Allen has a fantastic argument to being the second best quarterback (even overall player) in the entire league. As Allen enters his seventh season with the Bills, he has arguably the weakest roster since his rookie season. This is the year that Bills fans will see just how well Allen can help develop the players around him and take on more challenges that are presented to him.
