It was a rough game for sure for the Buffalo Bills in Week 4. After the hype buildup heading into this matchup, the Baltimore Ravens put the NFL on notice by humbling the Bills in a 35-10 crushing win. This game had a lot of storylines of a Lamar Jackson vs. Josh Allen showdown. Both quarterbacks coming from the same draft class and having a lot of success, this game was set up for a fantastic game. It was the complete opposite in this matchup.

While Jackson managed to keep the Ravens’ offense ahead of Buffalo’s defense, Allen and the Bills’ offense looked completely lost. Allen wasn’t able to move the ball down the field like he was last week against the Jaguars and it didn’t help that the support around him wasn’t helping him out.

The rushing attack disappeared and the offensive line was bullied by the Raven’s defensive line. Allen found himself throwing into tight windows which resulted in incompletions for the most part. Then he was also having to battle the consistent pressure the Ravens were bringing for all four quarters.

Allen was sacked three times, losing 27 yards and he had a fumble on a very questionable trick play that ultimately cost the Bills any kind of momentum they had in the third quarter. To finish out the night, Allen would record 180 yards through the air and added 21 rushing yards off of five carries.

One positive take away from Allen’s performance was that he didn’t throw an interception, in which he still has yet to throw one this season. However, he should have had two interceptions had they not been dropped.

Overall, Allen can’t be perfect every game and this loss is not solely on him. It was an all out team loss against a solid Ravens team. Sitting at 3-1, Allen and the Bills are still in a great position to get back on track and get back in the win column next week against the Houston Texans.

Final Grade: C
