In order to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, you have to take risks. Sometimes it pays off, and other times it doesn’t. Playing it safe helps keep stability but it doesn’t elevate the team to the next level. Since 2019, the Buffalo Bills have been taking risks and letting Josh Allen throw the ball down the field and into tight windows. In addition, Allen takes risks with his legs every time he runs out of the pocket.

Since 2020, Allen has led the league in total touchdowns with 173. He can throw it or he can run past defenders to get Buffalo into the endzone. Unfortunately, with Allen’s upside also comes his risks that Bills fans have an idea of these past couple of seasons. Allen has only had one season (2019) where he didn’t throw double digit interceptions. In addition, he has 59 career fumbles, two seasons where it was 10+ fumbles.

There is no denying that Allen is a superstar, but he is far from perfect and Bills fans will tell you the same thing. Heading into Week 1’s home opener against the Arizona Cardinals, Josh Allen made a unique bold predictions list that was created by Garrett Podell of CBS Sports. Podell is predicting that Allen does not commit a single turnover against the Cardinals.

"Would it surprise you to know Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl quarterback Josh Allen is only 3-2 with 11 touchdowns and 13 turnovers in NFL season openers? "

Garrett Podell, CBS Sports

Since Allen was drafted by the Bills, he has started five season openers for Buffalo and the Bills don’t exactly have their best games. The only exception is in 2022 when the Bills went to Los Angeles and dominated the Rams. Buffalo has either barely won, or they have lost their season opener and part of the reason is because of Allen turning the ball over.

Maybe part of the reason why Allen had the turnovers is because of the ongoing Stefon Diggs drama that the Bills had to deal with the last year or so. Podell commented on how Diggs not being in Buffalo anymore should allow Allen to spread the ball around rather than constantly going to one guy.

"Without Pro Bowl wideout Stefon Diggs, Allen is unburdened to throw the football to tight Dalton Kincaid or any other target without fear of them getting upset about a lack of touches. This more relaxed outlook for offensive coordinator Joe Brady will yield great results in Week 1 for Allen. "

Garrett Podell, CBS Sports

If Allen can go and play turnover-less football in front of the home crowd, it will be a great start for the Bills. With the Bills having a tough road ahead of them after Arizona, they are going to need Allen to play with a lot of confidence to get ready for the tough stretch that they have ahead of them.
