The last time the Buffalo Bills were on the field they were walking away from a disappointing overtime loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. It was a game that they led for most of but the Eagles were able to come back late and force overtime on a long field goal attempt by Jake Elliott before Elliott kicked another field goal in overtime for the win.

While the Bills entered the bye week at 6-6, there seemed to be some cautious optimism because that was probably the best the team has played in almost two months. The offense, particularly Josh Allen, looked great against the Eagles and were moving the ball with ease for most of the game.

This week, the Buffalo Bills are on the road again and heading to Kansas City to play the other team that was in last year's Super Bowl. In the past, this game seemed to have higher stakes as the Bills and Chiefs had been near the top of the AFC and fighting for that top seed.

However, this year the Buffalo Bills are in dire need of a win as they are on the outside looking in currently for the AFC playoffs. A win this week is critical to their chances of reaching the playoffs for the fifth straight year.

The good news for the Bills is that they have won their last two regular season games in Kansas City and Sean McDermott is undefeated after the bye week as head coach. It might not be the high-scoring matchup it has been in the past as the Chiefs are much better on defense than offense this year.

If that is the case, it will likely be a close game and this has been the biggest concern for the Bills this year. Can they win late when the game is on the line?

After what they showed against the Eagles, I am going to be cautiously optimistic that they keep their playoff hopes alive this week.
