There is no doubt that this season has been tough for the Buffalo Bills. They are currently the 11th seed in the AFC playoff picture and have had some tough losses. Three out of their six losses have come against teams that are ahead of them in the standings (Bengals, Broncos, and Jaguars). They have also lost to the bottom-of-the-barrel New England Patriots along with the New York Jets before splitting their season series.

The Bills will have one of, if not the toughest schedule remaining in the NFL over the last month of the regular season. They will take on the Chiefs this week, followed up with games against the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots, and Miami Dolphins. Buffalo had a bye week last week which means that at least until the first week of January, there will be Bills football.

Even though there has been criticisim about head coach Sean McDermott this season, he has not lost after a Bills bye week since he took over the job back in 2017:

  • 2017: win vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 30-27
  • 2018: win vs. Jacksonville Jaguars, 24-21
  • 2019: win vs. Miami Dolphins, 31-21
  • 2020: win vs. Los Angeles Chargers, 27-17
  • 2021: win vs. Miami Dolphins, 26-11
  • 2022: win vs. Green Bay Packers, 27-17

After bye weeks for the Bills, they have shown to go on winning streaks and finish the season strong. They will need it now more than ever, being a 6-6 team in a tough AFC playoff picture. The good news is that the Chiefs are not as explosive as they once were. However, they are coming off a tough loss against the Packers last Sunday night and are still competiting for the number one seed in the AFC.

Week 14 will be a fun one for the NFL between Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
