The Buffalo Bills are still looking for ways to improve this roster as training camp slowly approaches. When it comes to the wide receiver position, the Bills have brought in Curtis Samuel and Mack Hollins through free agency, while also drafting Keon Coleman in the second round. However, the Bills may not be done with the wide receiver spot just yet.

Adam Schefter reported that the Bills are hosting former Packers and Chiefs wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling on a free agent visit. Valdes-Scantling recently visited the Los Angeles Chargers but will now visit the Bills.

Brandon Beane is doing his due diligence on the free agent wideout to see if it would be a good fit with Valdes-Scantling. If the Bills were to add Valdes-Scantling, it would be another potential big target for Josh Allen which would be a different type of offense that Bills fans have not seen as far as height at the wide receiver spot.

Valdes-Scantling spent the first four years of his career with the Green Bay Packers, where his best season took place in 2020 (Aaron Rodgers’ MVP season) with 33 catches for 690 yards and a career-high six touchdowns. After four seasons with the Packers, Valdes-Scantling signed with the Chiefs and played just two seasons with them. In the past two seasons with Kansas City, Valdes-Scantling had 63 receptions for 1,002 yards and only three touchdowns. He was more of a big play or bust kind of player. The Chiefs did not have the best passing attack last year (Rashee Rice was their best true receiver) and Valdes-Scantling would only have 21 total starts in two years.

If the Bills were to add Valdes-Scantling, he would be a big wide receiver option and compete for the 5th or 6th wide receiver spot with someone like Chase Claypool. Overall, you can’t blame Beane for atleast taking the meeting to see if there is a potential fit for training camp at the very least.
