Buffalo Bills Rumors: 4 improbable trades involving Stefon Diggs
By Ryan Heckman
Trade Number 2: The Bills trade Stefon Diggs to the Detroit Lions
This one might be the most interesting, and risky, of them all. The Detroit Lions drafted wide receiver Jameson Williams in last year's draft, knowing he would miss a good chunk of time after recovering from an ACL tear. Now healthy, Williams should have been set to go for Week 1 of his second season as a pro.
However, a gambling situation got him into some trouble and now the Lions are without him for the first six weeks of the 2023 season. In this trade, the Bills take their own gamble with Williams, who they will wait to see for a few weeks.
Before his injury, Williams very well could have been the first receiver off the board in that 2022 NFL Draft. But, he fell because of health concerns and now will have to wait a little longer to begin his second season. If he is fully healthy and ready to go come Week 7, Williams still has the potential to be a legitimate WR1 in the NFL.
The Bills would also get a second and third rounder from Detroit in next year's draft. This would be the only instance where Buffalo does not net a first-round pick, but they do get one in some fashion, with Williams.
