Buffalo Bills: Ranking 5 deepest positions on 2023 roster
1. Defensive End
The deepest position on the Buffalo Bills roster for the 2023 season is defensive end, and that is even with the question marks around Von Miller. The former All-Pro is working his way back from a torn ACL and he believes he will be ready Week 1 but that is far from a guarantee.
Even if Miller has to miss some of the start of the season, the Bills have plenty of players at the position ready to step in. Similar to defensive end, the Bills have only had four or five players at the position on their 53-man roster and this is going to create a tough training camp battle for some of those final spots.
After Miller, Greg Rousseau is atop the depth chart and these two should be the starters when everyone is healthy. After Rousseau is Leonard Floyd and A.J. Epenesa with these two probably getting the next bulk of snaps and working into the rotation.
This leaves maybe one spot left and will see players like Boogie Basham, Shaq Lawson, and Shane Ray competing for that spot. Basham and Lawson did see snaps at different points of the season and it would appear the Bills are going to have to cut at least one of them.
This shows just how deep the position is and how tough the decisions are going to be for the coaching staff as they have to cut down the roster to the league-mandated 53 players.
