NFL teams are always looking for the next great quarterback. We often hear analysts comparing incoming rookie quarterbacks to the league's superstars. The latest being the Indianapolis Colts, Anthony Richardson. He's supposedly the next Josh Allen, at least the Colts and their fans are hoping as much.
But let's be honest, there is no one quite like Allen. There are some great passers and runners in the NFL, but none of them bring the total package of accuracy, arm strength, and mobility that Allen possesses. But there is another area of his game that excels and ranks as one of the best in the league.
According to Betway Insider, Josh Allen ranks second in the league for performing when under pressure. Only the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes ranked better. When under pressure, Josh Allen has 35 touchdowns, 4,283 yards, with 14 interceptions. Here is the top five in the NFL.
1. Patrick Mahomes - Kansas City Chiefs
41 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and 5,250 passing yards
2. Josh Allen - Buffalo Bills
35 passing touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and 4,283 passing yards
3. Kirk Cousins - Minnesota Vikings
29 passing touchdowns, 14 interceptions, and 4,547 passing yards
4. Joe Burrow - Cincinnati Bengals
35 passing touchdowns, 12 interceptions, and 4,475 passing yards
5. Geno Smith - Seattle Seahawks
30 passing touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and 4,282 passing yards
Ideally, Josh Allen could play every game without pressure, but we know that's not realistic. Until the Bills offensive line proves they can adequately protect Allen on a consistent basis, it's good to know that Allen is one of the best when under pressure. We've all seen Allen make some incredible plays when protection breaks down and is forced to improvise.
Allen is one of the most dynamic and exiting players in the league and we as fans have the pleasure of watching him for many more years to come but let's enjoy the greatness that we are witnessing, regardless of the final outcome at the end of the year.
