Dalton Kincaid set Bills rookie and tight end records last season, including most receptions by a tight end (73), and most receptions by a rookie. For more stats on Kincaid, check out this tweet from Bills Stat Chief and Researcher, Mike Haim. The expectations for Kincaid going into the 2024 season couldn't be much higher from Bills fans, but it seems the NFL community as a whole doesn't fully understand how good Kincaid is. They are about to find out. Bucky Brooks, an NFL.com writer, reserved a spot on his All-Breakout Team for Kincaid.
"With Buffalo poised to routinely utilize "12" personnel, Kincaid could become a household name as a dominant pass catcher over the middle. Although the second-year pro will share the marquee with fellow tight end Dawson Knox, the 6-foot-4, 240-pounder should thrive as Josh Allen attacks defenses with an inside-out approach that puts the Bills TEs in prominent roles. Kincaid took a little bit to get his footing as a rookie, but still finished the season with solid numbers: 73 catches for 673 yards and two scores. And I expect a big jump in production this fall. In fact, I won't be shocked if he ends up leading all tight ends in receptions and yards in 2024."Bucky Brooks - NFL.com
Will a healthy Dawson Knox for 17 games limit Dalton Kincaid's breakout potential?
The Bills passing game will run through Kincaid and Khalil Shakir in 2024. Others, such as Curtis Samuel, Dawson Knox, and rookie Keon Coleman will factor in, but this season is all about the breakout potential of Kincaid and Shakir. Bucky Brooks named Shakir to his All-Breakout Team as well. Both have gained the trust of Josh Allen, but if the Bills shift towards more 12 personnel usage, it remains to be seen how Dawson Knox's presence might impact Dalton Kincaid's share of targets.
