In a hard-nose fought game between two division rivals on primetime, the game that NFL fans were expecting was Aaron Rodgers vs. Josh Allen. After four offensive plays by the Jets, Rodgers went down with an ankle injury and it was the Zach Wilson vs. Josh Allen show from the first quarter and on.

A back and forth defensive game that went into overtime because of a last second Tyler Bass doink that went the right way for the Bills, ended up being a heartbreak loss to the Jets 22-16 on a punt return for a touchdown.

The Bills start off the season with a loss to a division opponent and will look to bounce back next week in their home opener against the Las Vegas Raiders. While the Bills look to put this loss behind them, there were some ups and some major downs that they will have to clean up moving forward.

Here are five takeaways from the Buffalo Bills’ first game of the 2023 season.
