Buffalo Bills: 3 reasons firing Sean McDermott would ruin this team
On Friday, the Buffalo Bills announced the team has extended both head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane. The extension means they will both be with the team through the 2027 season, and this has sparked yet again the debate of whether McDermott is on the hot seat heading into the 2023 season.
Since Coach McDermott arrived in Buffalo, the Bills have recorded a 62 - 35 win/loss record, a winning percentage of nearly 64 but those fans who want McDermott out, don't want to hear that. They say he's not the reason for the turnaround. They'll claim that Brandon Beane and Josh Allen are the reason. By the way, McDermott is already third on the Bills' all-time wins list too.
Another thing fans against McDermott don't want to hear is the fact the 17-year playoff drought finally ended in McDermott's first year in the league as the Bills' head coach. They don't believe ending the drought should be enough to keep him off the hot seat for not making it to the Super Bowl, let alone winning one.
But then again, how many coaches actually go on to win a Super Bowl in their career? Only one team wins it all, so there are 31 other coaches every year that doesn't accomplish this feat. So, do we just fire every coach along the way that fails to win a Super Bowl?
