Breaking down the longest rush in Buffalo Bills history since 2000

The Buffalo Bills have had some excellent running backs play for them since 2000 from Marshawn Lynch to LeSean McCoy. One player who is often overlooked is Fred Jackson but certainly did enough to be in the discussion with the running backs previously mentioned.

Fred Jackson would play eight seasons in Buffalo from 2007 to 2014 and did a little bit of everything during his time with the Bills. He not only was a dual threat out of the backfield both running the ball but also as a wide receiver with 322 career receptions but also was the team's primary returner on kickoffs and punts in 2008 and 2009.

That 2009 season was probably his best as it would be the only one with over 1,000 rushing yards and would also lead the league in all-purpose yards with 2,516 yards. It wouldn't be until 2011 though that he would set a franchise record with a run against the New York Giants.

In 2011, the Buffalo Bills got off to a great start to the season by winning four of their first five games. They would hit the road to play the New York Giants, who also was 4-1, in a Week 6 matchup.

The Giants would take the early lead with Ahmad Bradshaw finding the end zone on a one-yard run. However, that lead wouldn't last very long because on the very next offensive snap Fred Jackson would take the ball and run 80 yards for a touchdown.

This would be the longest run in franchise history and a record that still stands today. It was an excellent run by Jackson but started with some great blocking up front as Andy Levitre, Eric Wood, and Kraig Urbik would create a massive running lane.

It was all up to Jackson at that point as he makes Deon Grant miss and then it was a foot race between him and Aaron Ross. He made the Giants cornerback miss the tackle with a cutback.

That would be the final highlight seemingly for the Buffalo Bills that season as they would go 2-8 over the final 10 weeks of the season. Meanwhile, the New York Giants would go on to win the Super Bowl and beat the New England Patriots.
