7 moves the Buffalo Bills could make to clear $55 million in cap space

Saves: $4.195 ($1.375 million dead cap)

All the moves to this point have not really drastically changed the roster as the Buffalo Bills essentially adjust the contracts for current players. The final two moves though are ones that would result in these players being free agents, including a long-term fixture of the defense.

Jordan Poyer joined the Bills in 2017 and became of the best safeties in the NFL alongside Micah Hyde. However, Hyde is set to be a free agent and it could be time for Buffalo to have a clean start at the position with two new safeties.

Poyer is entering the final year of his contract and if the Bills were to release him it would save almost $5.5 million.

Another move that makes sense based on the cap savings would be to release wide receiver Deonte Harty. The team signed him last offseason to be a replacement for Isaiah McKenzie however Harty didn't have much of an impact on offense but was an excellent punt returner with an average of 12.4 yards per return and one punt return for a touchdown.

These two moves together would create almost $10 million in cap space and would be the final moves needed to clear $55 million for the offseason. It would get them just under the salary cap but if they want to make any additional moves, the Bills would have to shed even more salary over the next few weeks.
