Free agents to give Buffalo Bills embarrassment of riches after NFL Draft: Kwon Alexander, ILB
You can never have enough playmakers, but that doesn't just go for the offensive side of the ball. When free agency kicked off, the Bills saw one of their defensive leaders, inside linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, leave and sign with the Chicago Bears.
Prior to the NFL Draft, Buffalo was looking at Tyrel Dodson to take over Edmunds' vacancy. The veteran re-signed with the Bills this offseason in hopes that he could step into that role. However, when the draft rolled around, Beane had other plans. He wanted to give Dodson some competition throughout the summer program.
Drafting Dorian Williams in the third round, Buffalo now has a couple of guys who could fill Edmunds' shoes. But, if they wanted someone who could step in and be comfortable as that guy, right away, they could sign veteran Kwon Alexander.
In the last three seasons, Alexander has started 32 games for three different teams. He's actually been a fairly underrated linebacker recently, and Pro Football Focus gave him some pretty respectable marks for 2022. He's played different spots, but Alexander is more than capable of stepping into Edmunds' shoes.
