4 reasons the Buffalo Bills are still the best team in the AFC East for 2023 season
Reason #2: Buffalo Bills improved the offensive line
One of the biggest issues with the Buffalo Bills' offense last year was their offensive line. While the Buffalo Bills had the eighth fewest sacks last season with 33, that doesn't tell the whole story. The reason is that Josh Allen does a great job scrambling out of trouble and that helped keep that total down.
The Bills also did not do a great job opening up running lanes in the middle of the field. Last year, the Bills ranked in the Top 10 in rushing yards but again Josh Allen played a significant role in that number, and the running backs combined for only 1,421 rushing yards.
The good news is that they appeared to have fixed both issues with the addition of Connor McGovern and second round draft pick O’Cyrus Torrence.
The improvements at the guard position should have impacts across the entire offensive line. With more talent on the interior, it should help someone like Spencer Brown, who is entering his third year and the hope is that he can bounce back after a down year.
