The Buffalo Bills had their first preseason game of the 2023 season and started the year with a 23-19 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. The final result isn't necessarily the most important thing during the preseason but rather this is a time for the coaching staff and front office to evaluate the roster.

Currently the Bills have 90 players on the roster and before the start of the regular season will have to cut that down to 53 players. While there are still two preseason games left, these are four players who didn't really help their case to be on that final roster.

Nick Broeker

In the past, if the Buffalo Bills drafted a player it was almost a certainty they would be on the 53-man roster at least their first season. However, with how deep the Bills' roster has been the past few years that is no longer the case.

The Buffalo Bills have had draft picks not make the 53-man roster in their first season like Luke Tenuta and Jack Anderson. That trend seems likely to continue and unfortunately, Nick Broeker may be the odd man out along the offensive line.

Broeker was a seventh round pick by the Buffalo Bills and seems to be very low on the depth chart as he didn't get into the game until late. As Matt Parrino noted, his very first snap was driven backward into the pocket and gave up a sack to Adetomiwa Adebawore.

It might be a tough road ahead for Broeker to work his way into the 53-man roster at this point.
