Darrynton Evans

The Buffalo Bills lost Nyheim Hines before training camp due to a knee injury that will cost him the entire 2023 season. Hines didn't factor much on offense after the Bills traded for him during the season but did play a lot on special teams.

The thought was this season that Hines could expand his role as a pass catcher on offense while also being responsible for kickoffs and potentially punts. After Hines' injury, the Bills would sign Darrynton Evans to be a potential replacement for Hines this season.

Evans would play mostly in the second half of this game and had six rushing attempts for 18 yards. However, the reason he is on the roster bubble is that he appears to have been passed on special teams by Andy Isabella.

Isabella would have three kickoff returns while Evans had only one and it appears Isabella is ahead of Evans on the depth chart. The one kickoff by Darrynton Evans was impressive, as he brought it out of the end zone and returned it 42 yards, but Isabella also had a great game and Evans likely didn't make up any ground in this competition.
