As media and fans, the proverbial dead horse has been beaten....repeatedly. We know all the changes to the roster. We know all about the numerous long-time Bills that were released, Mitch Morse, Tre'Davious White, and Jordan Poyer. We're more than aware of the Stefon Diggs trade and losing Gabe Davis in free agency. Day One of the NFL Draft was interesting as well, with Bills Mafia expecting a shiny new receiver, only to get two trades that resulted in no picks that first night.
All of these moves have left many to wonder, has the Bills Super Bowl window closed? I don't believe so, but it's possible Buffalo could come to regret some of the offseason decisions. And if they come to regret more than a few, it could be a very long 2024 season at One Bills Drive. But hey, these were moves that had to be made, either due to salary cap constraints or off-the-field actions that were causing on-field distractions, they were necessary and for the better of the team's long-term health. But let's look at some of these decisions that could potentially haunt the Bills in 2024 and they could regret.
Three offseason moves the Buffalo Bills could regret in 2024
Bills trade Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans for a second-round pick
It shouldn't surprise anyone to see the Stefon Diggs trade on this list. What makes this interesting though is we don't know what to expect from Diggs in 2024. His production took a nose dive in the second half of the season and into the playoffs. What we don't know, is why that happened. Some will say defenses were targeting him in coverage, using double-teams and bracket coverage to stop him. But hasn't that been the case for the last few seasons, and yet he still produced and the majority of the other pass-catchers didn't.
If Diggs puts up another 100+ receptions and 1,000+ yards in Houston, fans will look at Beane and question the decision, and more so, if Josh Allen and the Bills' passing game struggles. Despite three receivers having career years with Allen, (John Brown, Cole Beasley, and Diggs), the question this offseason has been whether Allen's meteoric rise was due to Diggs's arrival in Buffalo.
