3 Bills players who could be cut before playing a snap
By Ryan Heckman
Marcell Ateman, WR
This offseason, many Bills fans wanted to see the team add another big-time playmaker at wide receiver. Instead, the team drafted tight end Dalton Kincaid in the first round to give the offense two major threats at that position between he and Dawson Knox.
Still, the receiving core is fairly deep. Of course, it's led by Stefon Diggs. Starting next to Diggs is Gabe Davis, who is now in the last year of his contract and could be due for a big year. Right now, the starting slot projects to be either Trent Sherfield or second-year pro Khalil Shakir. That's four, for those counting.
Then, the Bills also have Deonte Harty, whom they signed this offseason as more of a gadget and special teams type of player. The team also drafted Justin Shorter in the fifth round this year, which would bring them to six wideouts.
From there, the depth chart has guys like veterans Isaiah Coulter, Dezmon Patmon and KeeSean Johnson. Undrafted free agents Tyrell Shavers, Bryan Thompson and Jalen Wayne follow those three up. And then, there's XFL standout Marcell Ateman.
As cool of a story it could be to see Ateman pan out, it's not happening. He likely won't see the field and hear his name cut far sooner than any others.
