Wide receiver is the major hole in the Buffalo Bills' offense, which should be plugged by the end of the draft if all the experts are correct. Something that should not be overlooked is a clear-cut RB2, with potential options found in the draft and free agency.

James Cook is the undisputed lead running back, a title he earned during the 2023 season, but after that, there are questions. Ty Johnson was a good ball carrier, but his similarities to Cook make him more of an RB3.

RB2 needs to be a change-of-pace player, someone who complements James Cook by doing the tasks that he may not be the best at. Latavius Murray was close, but because he was in the twilight of his career, and Murray’s longevity was an issue down the stretch.

However, he showed what the Bills needed: a big body, goal-line, and short-yardage back. A player who can plow through the line for two or three yards and, if he manages to stay on his feet, the ability to outrun or outmuscle defensive backs on his way for chunk plays.

And that same player when his number isn’t called to haul the rock, needs to be able to pass block, providing Josh Allen the time in the pocket he needs. This player, along with the addition of Curtis Samuel, opens up the Bills for a versatile 22 personnel option on offense, along with the 11 and 12 formations that have become staples.
