While Week 2 is set to happen for 30 NFL teams, it is already over for the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins. On Thursday Night Football, the Bills walked into Miami and took control from start to finish. Aside from being tied 7-7 in the first quarter, this game was never close. Buffalo took the crowd out of the game, embarrassed Tua Tagovailoa by picking him off three times (including one returned for a touchdown), and James Cook was the star of the show for the Bills.

Buffalo ended up with the divisional win, winning 31-10 and now they have well over a week before their Week 3 Monday Night Football matchup at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Going into Week 3 at 2-0, the Bills will be looking to keep their momentum going. However, they have heavily struggled against the Jaguars in recent memory.

The Bills have shown to be a resilient team this year, with their 14-point comeback against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. Now they have shown that they can dominate an opponent as well like they did in Week 2. It is time to put it together in Week 3 when the Jaguars come to town.

Even though it seemed like the Bills couldn’t mess up against Miami even if they tried, there are still two improvements that Buffalo needs to make for Week 3.

1.) Clean up the run-defense

Through the first two weeks of the season, the Bills’ run-defense has given up 4.5 yards per carry. They couldn’t stop James Conner last week and Kyler Murray even got a few scrambles in. Then it was De’Von Achane from Miami who rushed for 96 yards alone against the Bills.

In order to allow Josh Allen and the offense to not have to play catchup, the run defense needs to stop the run and force opposing offenses’ to throw the ball. Buffalo has had a solid pass defense through these first two weeks and they will need Trevor Lawrence to put the Jaguars on his back rather than allow Jacksonville to control the game on the ground.

2.) Get Dalton Kincaid involved more

Throughout this offseason, Dalton Kincaid was expected to play in a huge role for the Bills. That has not been the case these past two games. He has just five catches for 44 yards. I get it, it’s only two games and Allen had an injured hand against the Dolphins, but Kincaid has been quiet so far.

It should change as the season goes on but Kincaid is too talented to not get heavily involved in Joe Brady’s gameplan. While the philosophy of Brady is that everybody eats, Kincaid’s talent is too great to ignore.
