One player Bills should release before Week 1 is painfully obvious

Although preseason football doesn’t matter to a lot of fans, every rep matters for each guy trying to make the 53-man roster. Regardless of your name, time in the league or even contract situation, there is a battle to be had at every single position.

Over the last few years, the wide receiver position for the Buffalo Bills has been a large topic of conversation. From top to bottom, fans across the country as well as certain local radio hosts have had their opinion on the receivers and what needs to be done to push this offense over the hump.

One player in particular was brought in by the Bills this summer to potentially boost the offense but has been overshadowed by others this preseason. Wide receiver Elijah Moore is firmly on the chopping block and is a player that I believe the Bills should part with before the season starts.

Bills should move on from WR Elijah Moore ahead of 2025 season

Moore is entering his fifth season in the NFL and joined the Bills on one year contract (2.5 million guaranteed). While he has shown flashes over the last four seasons, he has yet to make a mark this preseason.

Over the course of their two preseason games thus far, Moore has been targeted four times and has just one catch for five yards. There has been no defining moment for Moore and he is running out of time to make this roster.

Overall, he has been outshined by Tyrell Shavers and KJ Hamler when it comes to the wide receiver position, and Laviska Shenault has flashed in the return game, giving himself a better shot to make the roster.

Ultimately, the Bills should move on sooner rather than later to give other teams a chance to pick him up before Week 1 and give the other receivers on the roster more reps as the preseason comes to a close this Saturday for Buffalo.
