You would think that the Buffalo Bills would have learned from their mistakes in their first preseason game. Instead, things only got worse in their loss against the Chicago Bears. I know it's only preseason and the Bills didn't play much of their starters, but this game was difficult to watch from start to finish.

The Bills are now moving on and looking ahead to their final preseason game which will be on Saturday, August 23rd where they will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the Bills dropping their last two preseason games, they will be looking to head into the regular season on a high note with a hopeful win in Tampa.

This blowout loss against the Bears was completely embarrassing. Even though the Bears played their starters to begin the night and the Bills didn’t, there was no fight at all from Buffalo. The main point of preseason is to evaluate the players who aren’t guarantees to make the roster, but it was tough to see who the best players were because quite frankly, the entire team was a disappointment.

Bills have a massive depth issue heading into 2025 season

The fact that you can make the argument that Brad Robbins, the Bills’ punter, was the best player on the team is a major concern. The fact that a lot of backups on the Bills had the chance to shine and didn’t is very concerning. On both sides of the ball, a majority of the players heavily struggled.

It makes you wonder about what could happen to the Bills’ season should an impactful starter go down with an injury. The next man up mentality is real and if a backup struggles, then the whole team struggles.

The Bills have come too far and have suffered too many heartbreaks to not win their first Super Bowl this season. The last thing we want to see is a backup not be ready in the regular season/playoffs and be a big reason why the Bills’ season becomes a failure.

Before the regular season starts, the Bills may want to strongly consider finding different role players who could step up in crucial moments should they need them to.
