The Buffalo Bills were forced to watch the Super Bowl from home, but they did get to enjoy their division rivals taking a huge beatdown. The New England Patriots were destroyed by the Seattle Seahawks, where Drake Maye was rattled from start to finish. Even though Buffalo had to watch the Pats in the Super Bowl when it should have been them instead, atleast fans got the chance to watch New England get completely embarrassed.
Now that the 2025 season is over, the focus turns to the offseason where Bills fans are expecting Brandon Beane to deliver a splash or two going into next season. It was quite the January for Buffalo. They lost in overtime in the divisional round to the Broncos, Sean McDermott was fired, and then Joe Brady was promoted to head coach from offensive coordinator.
There is a ton of high energy with the hiring of Brady, but now Beane must build this team better than he has in recent memory. Fans will obviously be paying attention to the wide receiver position for improvement, but this defense will also need a lot of additions to improve, especially with the pass rush.
Bills listed as ideal fit for Super Bowl 60 champion (and it makes sense)
NFL analyst Ben Solak appeared on the Up & Adams show with Kay Adams, and Solak gave his top five free agents for this offseason. Solak said that the Bills are a great fit for Seahawks linebacker, Boye Mafe.
Ben Solak reveals his TOP 5 free agent fits for this NFL offseason:
— Up & Adams (@UpAndAdamsShow) February 10, 2026
1. Malik Willis ➡️ Browns
2. Kyle Pitts ➡️ Giants
3. Boye Mafe ➡️ Bills
4. Jauan Jennings ➡️ Chiefs
5. Alec Pierce ➡️ Patriots@heykayadams | @BenjaminSolak pic.twitter.com/RtTbJv0VwL
"He is like an outside linebacker, a more speed rusher that lost favor in this new defense. Jim Leonhard takes over there in Buffalo and he needs his Nik Bonitto's. He needs his Jonathan Cooper's. He needs those speed demons." said Solak.
Drafted in the second round of the 2022 draft, Mafe has 20 career sacks, which included 9 sacks in 2023. Another great thing to keep in mind about Mafe is his durability, where he has missed no more than two games in a season and has had two seasons where he played in every game.
With Leonhard coming into Buffalo as the new defensive coordinator, there has to be versatility and Mafe gives you that on the outside. Whether he lines up at linebacker or has his hand in the dirt, Mafe is someone that can bring that aggression that Leonhard wants to implement.
Mafe is a very intriguing pending free agent that the Bills must strongly look at. Obviously, the Bills have some work to do if they want to build up their cap, but Brandon Beane has worked his magic before. Let’s see if he can do it again.
