The Buffalo Bills failed to capitalize on a pivotal season that felt like it was theirs for the taking. Instead, they had to watch the New England Patriots advance to another Super Bowl, though fortunately, the Bills' biggest rivals got blown out by the Seahawks in Super Bowl LX.
The fact of the matter is that, even though Josh Allen is still Josh Allen, the Bills' championship window is slowly but surely starting to slam shut. General manager Brandon Beane is used to being under pressure to make moves that can finally get this team over the hump, and Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report proposed his latest trade pitch to Beane and the Bills.
The trade would involve the Bills sending a 2026 fifth-round pick and former second-round bust Keon Coleman to the 49ers in exchange for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
"Both Aiyuk and Coleman could use a change of scenery. The Bills could use a high caliber receiver at a discounted price while the Niners need cheaper help in light of Brock Purdy's new contract extension.
This is a trade that helps the Bills keep up with the Patriots while still allowing the Niners to have another young receiver. Kyle Shanahan could have a good shot at helping Coleman get his career on the right track."
Bleacher Report proposes Brandon Aiyuk trade for Bills
This would not be a popular trade amongst Bills Mafia for several reasons. First and foremost, Aiyuk was a no-show for the 49ers last year and even went so far as to cut off all communication with his team. It was a puzzling situation and one that probably isn't going to help his trade stock much.
Even when putting aside that drama with Aiyuk, he's still not the right piece for the Bills to add. Yes, he's had some good seasons, but all in all, Buffalo would be better off trying to find someone in the draft who can help Allen and this team get to the next level than taking a flier on Aiyuk.
While Bills fans wouldn't hate the idea of shipping Keon Coleman off somewhere else, Joe Brady has gone to bat for him in the past so it doesn't feel like a trade is going to happen there. Things haven't worked out with Coleman but perhaps a new head coach can flip things around for the former second-round pick.
