Any player who has the opportunity to team up with a player like Josh Allen should immediately be excited. He is the MVP of the league and he has been beyond dominant since 2020. It's a shame that he has yet to reach a Super Bowl, but hopefully that switches for the better in the 2025 season.
Josh Allen rightfully was named the MVP from the 2024 season after taking the Bills back to the AFC championship game after what was considered a step-back season for the Bills. He set the record for the most consecutive seasons of 40+ total touchdowns (5 seasons) and he’s already set franchise records both through the air and on the ground too. He’s here to stay after getting a massive six-year, $330 million deal ($250 million guarenteed) before free agency opened up.
With the second day of the NFL Draft taking place later tonight at 7PM EST, any player who gets the call from the Bills should be thrilled to be joining a team that has Allen on it. It’s better to be his teammate rather than playing against him. Cornerback Maxwell Hairston, who the Bills drafted in the first round has the pleasure of knowing that he doesn’t have to worry about going up against Allen in a live game.
Maxwell Hairston knew when he wanted to be teammates with Josh Allen
After Hairston was drafted, he spoke with the media about his excitement to be joining the Bills and what he will be bringing to Buffalo. Right off the bat, he made the comment about how he will be the one to give the ball back to Allen, basically saying that he plans on creating turnovers to give back to the offense.
Hairston also talked about the first time that he saw Josh Allen live and how his performance got Hairston excited about potentially teaming up with him. According to Jenna Cottrell, Hairston said he was at the Bills vs. Lions game in Week 15 last season, which was a thrilling high-scoring game where Buffalo squeezed out a 48-42 win.
Hairston said Allen “put on a masterclass” and that he “wouldn’t mind that being my quarterback” per Cottrell.

In that Week 15 win against the Lions, Allen put up 430 scrimmage yards and 4 total touchdowns with no turnovers. He also completed over 67% of his passes against a Lions defense that was physical, but also had a lot of injuries occur in weeks prior.
Those types of numbers should make any player want to come to Buffalo and be teammates with Allen. He can do it all. Now Hairston gets to be his teammate for the foreseeable future and grow as a player against him in practice to thrive in a game.
