The Buffalo Bills are rolling up to this point in the season. They are currently on top of the AFC East by a mile with a 6-2 record, while the rest of the division has six combined wins. It is quite a funny turn of events, since the Bills were highly doubted coming into this season. As of right now, it is a matter of time before they take the division for the fifth consecutive season.

The only down part about being successful in the regular season and clinching a playoff spot is that you will get a low draft pick come the following spring. The Bills haven’t had a top ten pick since 2019, where they selected Ed Oliver out of Houston.

However, Bills fans will agree that being successful during the season is worth missing out on a top ten pick. Mock drafts for the 2025 draft have been coming basically since the conclusion of the 2024 NFL draft. They will continue to happen each week as we see the season progress.

In a latest mock draft through Pro Football Focus, per Trevor Sikkema, the Bills are projected to go with a position that is the least of their needs. Buffalo is predicted to take a defensive tackle, despite needing more help at other positions.

Buffalo Bills projected to draft Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen

"The Bills remain a force every week with quarterback Josh Allen leading the way. From a long-term lens, they could add another explosive player on the interior defensive line, which is exactly what Walter Nolen is. The former No. 3 overall recruit in the 2022 class has developed some pass-rush moves to go along with impressive explosiveness and power. If 2024 is the tip of the iceberg for him, he’ll be a disruptive pro player."

The Bills have not selected a defensive player in the first round in two years, where they last drafted cornerback Kaiir Elam who has been a bust up to this point. Should the Bills decide to go with defense in next year’s draft, they should stay clear of the defensive tackle spot.

Buffalo already has players like Ed Oliver, DaQuan Jones, and they drafted DeWayne Carter in the third round this past draft so there is no need to waste a first round draft choice at this position. Instead, they should address cornerback or even bring in another linebacker because while it might be hard to start discussing this, Matt Milano could very well be out of Buffalo very soon due to multiple injuries the last two seasons.

The good news is that the Bills don’t need to worry about the draft just yet. Their main attention should be focused on the Miami Dolphins this coming Sunday.
