5 winners from Buffalo Bills impressive road win over Seahawks in Week 8
By Brandon Ray
For the third consecutive week, the Buffalo Bills will enjoy a victory Monday after their 31-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks on the west coast. The Bills are coming off a 34-10 win over the Tennessee Titans and followed it up with a massive win in a tough environment.
The Bills find themselves at 6-2 with a massive lead within the AFC East. Their closest rival near them in the division is the Miami Dolphins who are at 2-5 (and who the Bills will host in Week 9). Not to mention, the Bills already have two division wins against the Dolphins and New York Jets.
Bills Mafia can now enjoy the win this week and start to prepare for the Dolphins to come to town. As the fanbase enjoys this win, there are five Bills players that stood out the most in the dominant win.
Here are the 5 winners from the Bills’ dominant win
CB Rasul Douglas
While it does help that DK Metcalf was ruled inactive due to a knee injury, Rasul Douglas still managed to help Buffalo’s secondary keep guys like Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba quiet throughout the game. Not only was he great in coverage, but Douglas with six total tackles and a pass deflection.
In addition, Douglas was fantastic in the run-defense. He was making tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage. Needless to say, Douglas once again performed at a high level for the Bills.
WR Keon Coleman
The rookie keeps showing why the Bills made the right decision to let the Kansas City Chiefs get Xavier Worthy and end up drafting Keon Coleman in the second round. For the second consecutive week, Coleman was a major contributor for the passing attack. He was the one that helped put the Bills on the scoreboard first with an amazing one-hand grab in the endzone.
Coleman finished the game with 5 catches for 70 yards and one score. He is improving each week and is becoming more of a focal point in this offense.
DT Austin Johnson
It is impossible not to put Austin Johnson on this list. Not only did he help the Bills defense limit the Seahawks to just 32 total rushing yards on the day, but Johnson also recorded his first interception he’s ever had since playing football.
Geno Smith dropped back to pass on a screenplay and Johnson read it just right to secure his first ever interception. He never had one going all the way back to high school so it was a special moment for Johnson.
WR Khalil Shakir
Bills Mafia is starting to call Khalil Shakir “Mr. Reliable” because he pretty much catches everything that gets thrown his way. Josh Allen targeted Shakir ten times and the duo connected for nine receptions for 107 yards. He helped move the chains for a first down on multiple occasions and fought his way up the field to pick up the hard yards.
Shakir is one of the most underrated receivers in the league and not a lot of NFL fans outside of Buffalo know who he is. With Amari Cooper only getting one catch for three yards, Shakir stepped up in a big way for this passing attack.
RB James Cook
Outside of Allen, James Cook was the biggest story for this Bills offense. He has more touchdowns this season than he had the last two years combined. Cook also recorded his first 100+ rushing yard game of the season in a dominant fashion. He averaged over six yards per carry and finished with 111 yards and two touchdowns.
Cook is showing the Bills that no matter the weather condition, he can be the go-to guy in the rushing attack and allow Allen to focus on getting the ball through the air.
