Bills continue to dominate AFC East standings after Week 8 victory
By Brandon Ray
There was so much talk about the Buffalo Bills regressing this offseason, but it looks like those doubters are nowhere to be found through eight weeks. While they had a field day with the Bills’ two-game losing streak in Weeks 4 & 5, they are quiet with the Bills winning their last three games. Since their heartbreaking loss to the Texans in Week 5, the Bills have gone on to defeat the Jets in their stadium, took down a tough and physical Titans team, and traveled across the country to crush the Seahawks.
Through eight weeks, the Bills find themselves at 6-2 and are in a great position to make a run at winning the AFC East sooner than later. Throughout the offseason, the biggest debate was whether or not the New York Jets or Miami Dolphins would take the division from the Bills. On paper, both the Jets and Dolphins had better rosters. However, the Bills are proving that the only thing that matters is what happens on the field.
Not to mention, the Bills have already defeated the Jets and Dolphins this season. After Week 8, the AFC East is featured by the Bills standing at 6-2, and the rest of the division having no more than two wins each.
The Jets are falling apart since they fired Robert Saleh and thought that trading for Davante Adams would fix everything. The Dolphins have been affected with injuries across the board, which includes Tua Tagovailoa who suffered a concussion in Week 2 and didn’t return until this past week. Then there are the New England Patriots who are in a current rebuild, but have promise in their rookie quarterback in Drake Maye.
Buffalo Bills are proving that the AFC East won't be leaving Buffalo anytime soon
Let’s face it. As long as Josh Allen is playing at a high level and the defense continues to shine under Sean McDermott, Buffalo is going to keep dominating the AFC East. While there is still a ton of football left, this might be the one division (outside of the AFC West) that might already be decided.
The Bills now turn their attention to next week where they will have the chance to even push themselves further ahead within the division, as they welcome in the Miami Dolphins for a Sunday AFC East showdown.
