One of the Buffalo Bills’ more intriguing opponents that they will face in 2026 is not even a team in the same conference as them. The Bills will take on the NFC North teams and the Los Angeles Rams. Now you might think that the Rams will be Buffalo’s out-of-conference opponent and that could very well be true. At the same time, the Chicago Bears are an interesting opponent for the Bills.

The Bears thrived in 2025 under first time head coach Ben Johnson, who is one of the best playcallers in the business. He inherited a very talented offense that has Caleb Williams at quarterback. Chicago has built around Williams and with their success last season that led them to an NFC North title and a playoff.

With Williams specifically, he played a lot better with Johnson than he did in his rookie season. He was less than a 100 yards from reaching 4,000 passing yards and he had some great 4th quarter play that led the Bears to multiple wins.

The Bears will be looking to build off of last season, and part of their 2026 journey will be to come to Orchard Park and take on the Bills, which Kay Adams from Up & Adams believes will be a fantastic matchup between Caleb Williams and Josh Allen.

“I don’t know if a quarterback matchup is better than Caleb Williams and Josh Allen in this modern NFL. The highlights are going to go crazy. There will be atleast one jaw-dropping signature play that we will all remember ten years from now. We might get two, one from each of these guys.” said Adams.

Bills vs. Bears could be "Game of the Year" candidate in 2026

Williams and Allen have some similarities in their game, with the ability to extend plays with their legs and also launch the ball down the field in cold weather. Both quarterbacks officially have offensive-minded head coaches so this game could be one of those outings where the scoreboard is constantly lighting up.

Chicago is going to be a tough opponent for Buffalo, but luckily this game will be in Buffalo which gives the Bills an advantage. However, even if the Bears come to Buffalo late in the season, the weather won’t be a factor considering that both teams play in the cold weather.

No matter how this game turns out, seeing an Allen vs. Williams thriller is going to be electric for the entire NFL world to see and it could very well be a high-scoring game.
