On Friday, Adam Schefter confirmed that the official 2026 NFL schedule will be released on Thursday, May 14th where the final schedules will be released for all 32 NFL teams. Now granted, some games will become confirmed earlier than that but still, it’s an exciting time. Teams already know who they will be playing, but now they will learn when they will be playing certain opponents.
The Buffalo Bills have some tough opponents for 2026, which includes the entire NFC North, both the Ravens and Chiefs, the Patriots twice, and then the Los Angeles Rams. There is no doubt that the Bills will have their hands full and with a new coaching staff in the building, fans will be interested to see how they will perform.
Now that the schedule is set to come out in less than a week, there is going to be lots of speculation on what primetime games will be featured and how many times a team will be under the lights. The Bills are no stranger to primetime games as they have been in plenty of them since becoming a championship contender.
Early NFL schedule prediction has Bills getting big primetime matchup out west
John Breech from CBS Sports took an early chance at predicting primetime games for 2026 that includes the season opener, Thanksgiving and Christmas games. Breech has the Bills in one of the predictions where it's Buffalo heading out west for a Thanksgiving Eve matchup against Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams.
"If the NFL decides NOT to use the Chiefs, then Bills-Rams would also be a great option. You'd have the last two NFL MVPs squaring off under the lights in Los Angeles. These two teams met in 2024, with the Rams winning 44-42, and the NFL would probably love to see another game like that. " said Breech.
It was a thriller matchup in 2024 between the Bills and Rams where there were 86 total points and a ton of offense in the second half. The Rams escaped with a two point victory and sent Buffalo back to the east coast heartbroken. Both Buffalo and LA have been knocking at the Super Bowl door the last couple of seasons, but have failed in some fashion.
When you have quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Matthew Stafford going up against each other, it only makes sense to have them under the lights where the whole world is watching them. Even though we won’t know when Buffalo and LA will face off against each other until next week, it would be shocking if these two teams played anywhere outside of a primetime matchup.
