There’s no question that Josh Allen is the best player for the Buffalo Bills and it’s not even close. Anyone who says that he isn’t, doesn’t watch football whatsoever. Now, there is a debate about who is the best player behind Allen.

Fans could argue for multiple players on who is the best outside of Allen. You could say it’s running back James Cook, linebacker Matt Milano (when he’s healthy), or defensive tackle Ed Oliver. However, one player that frequently gets mentioned as the second best is Allen’s blindside protector, left tackle Dion Dawkins.

The Bills drafted Dawkins in the second round in 2017 and he’s been a reliable player. Over the past four years, he has become one of the league’s best offensive linemen earning four consecutive Pro Bowl honors. Heading into this season, he was voted as No. 42 player overall on the NFL Top 100 Players.

Not to mention, his last two seasons have been fantastic. According to The 33rd Team, Dawkins has only allowed four sacks, 56 pressures, and 12 hits on 1,187 snaps.

Dion Dawkins pinned as Bills' best non-QB player going into 2025 season

Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone recently listed the best non-quarterbacks for each team going into the 2025 season and Dawkins was listed for the Bills. Here’s what Scataglia said about Dawkins:

"Dion Dawkins has been a high-end left tackle in the NFL for quite some time. He's been protecting Josh Allen's blindside for years now and is the Buffalo Bills' best player not named Josh Allen."

Dawkins is a cornerstone player for the franchise and is still in his prime going into this season. He’s beloved by coaches, teammates, and the community of Buffalo. In addition, he’s very reliable in terms of staying on the field and he played a major role in helping Allen win his first MVP award last season.
