Josh Allen's spot in latest power rankings is an absolute joke heading into 2025

We enter a new week of the preseason after we saw the Buffalo Bills drop their first and only home game of the preseason to the New York Giants. Offensively, there weren’t any big issues. As for the defense…well that’s a different story.

Luckily it’s just the preseason and we won’t remember what happened when Week 1 of the regular season approaches. The most obvious move that was made was the Bills deciding not to play Josh Allen. I mean, why would you? There’s no need to put the MVP on the field in a meaningless game.

Going into the regular season, Allen has new weapons around him but has a lot of continuity around him as well (specifically up front in the trenches). He proved last season that he can carry the Bills without a true No. 1 receiver and quite frankly, he is a better player without one than with one.

Believe it or not though, there are some people out there who still think Allen is responsible for the Bills not getting over the hump in the playoffs, but Bills fans know that is not true at all.

Josh Allen's latest power ranking spot is beyond ridiculous

Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone recently ranked the five quarterbacks who are under the most pressure in the 2025 season and for some reason, Allen was listed at No. 3. Here’s what Scataglia said about Allen being under pressure this season:

"Now that Josh Allen has an MVP under his belt, the one thing he has not accomplished in the NFL is winning a Super Bowl, as he and the Buffalo Bills have not been able to get past the conference championship game, which is getting quite ridiculous at this point. While it feels like Josh Allen is atop the NFL world, he is under pressure to get this thing done in 2025."

Are we forgetting that every year since the 2020-2021 playoffs, the Bills’ losses in the playoffs have resulted in the defense giving up no less than 27 points? How about the fact that in a thriller game against the Chiefs that went to overtime in 2021-2022, Buffalo scored 36 points but their defense allowed 42 points?

Allen has never been the problem in the playoffs. In fact, he is one of the best quarterbacks in the playoffs. At one point, we saw him throw for more touchdowns than incompletions in a playoff game (Wild Card Round vs. Patriots, 2022).

To say that he is facing pressure is ridiculous. He just got a brand new contract extension this past offseason and the defense faced a major revamp because Brandon Beane knew that the defense was the main issue. Not Allen and the offense.
