Josh Allen's MVP season slightly overlooked in Top-100 placement list

It's a great spot, but how is the MVP not at the top of the list?

No matter what the critics say or who says that Lamar Jackson should have won the MVP award, at the end of the day, there was no more valuable player on the field than Josh Allen for the Buffalo Bills. Without him, the Bills wouldn’t win more than four or five games per year. Even with the talent that they have on both sides of the ball, it wouldn’t be enough to make a true championship contender.

He is the best at his position right now. Yes, even above Patrick Mahomes who has always beaten Allen in the playoffs. At the end of the day, it’s not Allen’s fault that Buffalo’s defense has crumbled every postseason since 2020.

As the regular season approaches here in less than three months, CBS Sports writer Pete Prisco listed his Top-100 players going into the 2025 list. Last year, Allen was No. 6 on Prisco’s list. This time, he jumped up two spots to No. 4 behind Saquon Barkley, Myles Garrett, and Patrick Mahomes. Two other Bills also made it onto Prisco’s list; OL Dion Dawkins at No. 97 and CB Christian Benford at No. 100.

Josh Allen deserves top spot on Pete Prisco's Top-100 list

You could make the argument that Allen deserves to be at the top of the list. He is the reigning MVP and he set all sorts of Bills and NFL history last season. He was throwing touchdowns, rushing for touchdowns. Heck, he even caught a touchdown in a Week 13 blowout win against the 49ers.

Now I get it, Barkley rushed for over 2,000 yards and elevated the Eagles’ offense. Garrett is the only great player that Cleveland has and is coming off his second consecutive 14-sack season. As far as Mahomes, that I’m not so sure about.

Mahomes had a down year and the Chiefs’ offense wasn’t explosive as it once was. However, he wins and that does count for something. At the same time, Allen has become the overall better quarterback. He just needs his defense to stop Mahomes atleast once.

Being at No. 4 is not bad at all. I’m not saying it is, but when you consider the factors that go into this list, it displays a little bit of disrespect for Allen’s MVP season.
