The Buffalo Bills are one of those teams in the NFL that is headlined by a star quarterback in Josh Allen, and they have also managed to surround him with some of the best help at various areas. Obviously, wide receiver isn’t in those conversations, but Allen has a strong running game behind him that is led by James Cook and he also has one of the best left tackles in the game with Dion Dawkins.

For the most part, Bills fans would agree that a majority of Buffalo’s best players are on offense. Now, that’s not to say that they don’t have defensive talent. But when you talk about the overall best players that help carry the team, players like Allen, Cook, and Dawkins should immediately come to mind.

All three players received the recognition from Pete Prisco of CBS Sports, who created a list of the Top 100 players of 2026.

Trio of Bills get high praise heading into 2026 season (and rightfully so)

Prisco listed Allen at No. 3 overall, only behind Rams' Myles Garrett and Matthew Stafford. Cook was palced at No. 34, and Dawkins was listed at No. 78.

Pete Prisco about Josh Allen:

"His numbers weren't as good as the year before, but he still was one of the best in the league. He carries the Bills on his back. His numbers should go up this year with Joe Brady running things." said Prisco.

Pete Prisco about James Cook:

"He led the NFL in rushing with 1,621 yards and had 12 rushing touchdowns and two receiving scores. He averaged an impressive 5.2 yards per carry." said Prisco.

Pete Prisco about Dion Dawkins:

"He is the glue of a strong offensive line at left tackle. He is a key part of the offense, protectingJosh Allen's blindside." said Prisco.

Allen is the clear star of the team and it’s not even close. Then again, it does help when he has Dawkins protecting him and not letting him get chased down by defenders. It also really helps when Cook can get to the second and third level and get the rushing attack going to take pressure off of Allen.

Nonetheless, while the Bills have these 3 outstanding players, it’s going to take more than them to get over the hump and reach the Super Bowl. With a new coaching staff with a new defense, fans are hoping that these changes will help these stars get past the bump that haven’t been able to this decade.
