When Josh Allen suffered an injury during last Sunday's win over the Cleveland Browns, Eagles fans might have been giddy, looking at the possibility of playing yet another backup quarterback. Philadelphia just defeated the Washington Commanders' backup quarterback, Marcus Mariota, and might have been looking forward to a game against Mitch Trubisky in Buffalo.

Unfortunately for Eagles fans, that is no longer going to be the case. The Bills will have Josh Allen ready to go ahead of their showdown this Sunday, per Adam Schefter and Alaina Getzenberg, and it spells bad news for the Eagles.

Josh Allen set to play in Week 17 vs. Eagles despite foot injury

While Allen has had a few rough games this season and has not been playing at the same MVP level he was at in 2025, he's still shown up in all the team's biggest games. He put on the cape against the Ravens, Chiefs, Bengals, and Patriots, leading the Bills to four huge wins against four of their most difficult matchups this season.

The Eagles will be Buffalo's last real test before the playoffs, as their Week 18 opponent is the bottom-tier New York Jets. That means this game will effectively serve as a tune-up for Buffalo before the playoffs. Win, and the Bills are likely going into the postseason as a 13-4 team, either holding the AFC's No. 5 seed or No. 2 seed (if New England loses one of their final two games).

Buffalo is not going to take it easy against the Eagles, and neither will Allen.

There is also an element of revenge for Allen and the Bills going into this game, making things even worse for the Eagles. The last time these teams met, in November of 2023, saw Philadelphia overcome a ten-point deficit to win on a game-winning touchdown in overtime.

Allen and the Bills' offense scored 34 points, and led 24-14 going into the fourth quarter. The Eagles put together an incredible fourth-quarter comeback, scoring 17 in the fourth quarter and forcing overtime, tied 31-31.

The memory of that game will motivate Allen to get revenge on the Eagles this weekend. While he did lose their last game, he was statistically brilliant, with two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns.

Bottom line; the Eagles should be scared of Josh Allen this weekend.
