When a team has to go up against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, there should always be major concerns on what Allen will do in order to carry the team to victory. We have seen it time and time again where Allen has been the ultimate deciding factor for the Bills winning. While it shouldn’t always come down to what Allen does, it’s always a fun scene to see him making some highlight plays.

Part of it is because of what he can do with his arm, and throwing the ball way down the field. The other part is his ability to use his legs to pick up big plays for the offense. That’s what makes Allen such a dangerous quarterback in not just the current NFL, but of all time as well.

In terms of his rushing ability, Allen has rushed for 4,721 yards and 79 touchdowns (with the last three seasons of 12+ touchdowns on the ground). From 2021-2022, Allen rushed for no less than 762 yards.

As long as Allen is playing in his prime, his rushing ability is going to play a huge factor into why the Bills are successful, and the 2026 season should be no different, even with getting a new wide receiver in DJ Moore.

Josh Allen still expected to be among best dual-threat QBs in 2026

Sayre Bedinger from NFL Spin Zone predicted Allen to be one of the Top 5 quarterbacks in terms of rushing yards in 2026, along with Jaxson Dart, Jayden Daniels, Lamar Jackson, and Malik Willis.

"Over the course of his NFL career, Josh Allen averages 627 rushing yards per 17 games played. Over the last three seasons, his highest total is 579, which came just last season. This is an element of Allen's game that was really unleashed when he got into the league, and has consistently been a weapon he is able to use in a variety of ways." said Bedinger.

Early on in Allen’s career, the Bills’ offense was setup to where they would draw up plays that focused on Allen being the ball carrier. Over time, that changed as the Bills didn’t want to see Allen take any unnecessary hits on QB designed runs.

A lot of his rushing yards that he does gain is because the pocket broke down or the receivers weren’t getting separation from defenders. Even though the Bills added DJ Moore, and James Cook has established himself as one of the best running backs in the game, Allen is still going to be making plays with his legs no matter what.
