Josh Allen delivers big time credit to Bills defense in Week 10 vs. Colts
By Brandon Ray
It wasn’t a pretty performance by the Buffalo Bills offense, but they did just enough to help the Bills get to 30+ points for the fourth consecutive time. However, a lot of credit is owed to the Bills defense and is exactly what Josh Allen did in the postgame.
The Buffalo offense only put up two touchdowns on the ground, both by Allen and James Cook. Even though Allen through for 280 yards, the team’s leading receiver was Mack Hollins (4 receptions, 86 yards). The Bills had no issue running the ball, finishing with 135 yards on the ground and Cook had 80 yards while Allen had 50 yards.
The scoreboard may tell a story as to how the Bills offense performed, but only people who watched the game truly knows that it was the Bills defense that helped the offense get into great field position. Buffalo’s defense is the real MVP of this game, where they had four takeaways and sacked Joe Flacco four times.
Allen spoke with AJ Ross from CBS Sports in the postgame and gave lots of credit to his defense for their role in the win. While Allen credited the defense, he mentioned how the offense needs to get off to a quicker start and how despite the win, they didn’t play their best.
Buffalo Bills defense deserves the game ball from Week 10 win
There is a narrative that the Bills have become so Josh Allen-reliant in order to win football games. It was the complete opposite in this game because if the defense had not caused the turnovers they did, it would have more than likely been a much closer game.
While the Bills were down two starting wide receivers in Keon Coleman and Amari Cooper, the passing attack needs to heavily improve moving forward. Khalil Shakir was quiet today with only one true impactful play and then the Bills lost tight end Dalton Kincaid in the second half with an injury.
Buffalo’s defense deserves all the credit for this win because of their situational play against Joe Flacco. While they did let Jonathan Taylor reach 100+ yards on the ground, that was expected just because of the talent he has.
