The Buffalo Bills' road to the 2025 postseason has been bumpier than most would have expected, but the team can clinch its spot with a win over the Cleveland Browns and some help around the AFC. It’s a credit to quarterback Josh Allen, whose MVP candidacy this season has only gotten stronger with his last three heroic performances.

As it stands, Allen is still not at the top of the MVP race. In fact, he didn’t even move past Drake Maye according to the odds makers at DraftKings and FanDuel, while Matthew Stafford continues to be the leading favorite. Considering Allen already has an MVP to his credit, and many acknowledging the value of his presence to Buffalo down the stretch, it’s not as though Allen’s Hall of Fame-trending resume is getting any weaker without the award this year.

MVP or no, playoff clinching win or no, Allen can still boost his already impressive career resume against the Browns by making more unprecedented NFL history this week.

Josh Allen is one score away from rewriting NFL history for Buffalo Bills

This Sunday marks Allen’s 126th career game, which is significant because Allen can become the fastest player in NFL history to reach 300 total touchdowns with just one score against Cleveland this week. If he does so, he’d be the first player to reach the milestone before turning 30 and would break Aaron Rodgers’ record for the fewest games played, 134, to score 300 touchdowns.

In his eight-year career, Allen has thrown 220 touchdown passes, rushed for 77 touchdowns and caught two touchdowns for a total of 299. Once he scores his 300th touchdown, he’ll become just the 19th player in NFL history to do so.

Allen has had two games this season in which he did not score a touchdown: Week 2 against the Jets and Week 12 against the Houston Texans. Still, the Browns carry the league’s 19th-ranked scoring defense, and Allen himself has scored at least two touchdowns in each of the past three games. In fact, Allen has scored nine touchdowns in the last three weeks, seven through the air and two on the ground.

While Bills fans hold out hope that Allen’s heroics can finally bring a Super Bowl to Western New York this year, in the meantime, the franchise quarterback continues to make league history.
