The Buffalo Bills are no longer undefeated after their loss to the New England Patriots. It was a bad outing by the Bills and now they will be looking to move onto Week 6. Here are three Bills who disappointed during their Week 5 loss at home.
3 Bills who disapointed the most in Week 5 loss vs. Patriots
1. Josh Allen
Even the best quarterback in the league has a bad game once or twice a season. This was Allen's clunker.
He almost redeemed himself in the fourth quarter, bringing the team back from a 20-10 deficit and tying the game up. But ultimately, he did not play a great game. He completed 22 of 31 passes for two touchdowns, but also turned the ball over twice. He was not the hero Buffalo needed him to be.
2. James Cook
More disappointing than Allen was Cook, who struggled to gain yards when he had the ball. In 15 carries, he managed 49 yards, just 3.3 yards per carry.
New England has a good run defense, so this was somewhat predictable. Still, it's hard to win when the ground game never really gets going. Credit to the Patriots for attacking the line of scrimmage and making sure Cook did not have any open lanes to cut through.
3. Khalil Shakir
Khalil Shakir still has not gone for over 70 yards in a game yet this year. Yesterday, he caught six passes for 45 yards, averaging 7.5 yards per reception.
The truth is, Buffalo needs its top receiver to play up to his potential. While it's cool seeing Keon Coleman and Curtis Samuel catch touchdown passes, Shakir is still the best wideout on this team and Allen's favorite target. And yet, the last time he went for over 100 yards was December 8th, 2024.
For Buffalo's sake, and for Allen's sake, Shakir needs to start having big games again, and soon. He has the talent to do so, so hopefully, it is only a matter of time.
