The Buffalo Bills went under a big revamp of their roster last offseason. They lost more than they gained and their moves made the NFL world doubt what they could do this season. All that they did was just dominate the AFC East and win the division by Week 13 and they also produced an MVP candidate in Josh Allen after losing a lot of receivers. No big deal whatsoever, right?
The Bills proved a lot of doubters wrong and even though the moves they made were mostly due to financial reasons, the players that they released ended up not doing so well with their new teams.
These former Bills robbed their new teams blind in 2024
S Jordan Poyer, Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins were trying to do whatever they could this past offseason to dethrone the Bills in 2024. They had the chance to win the division in 2023, but they fell apart at the end of the regular season and allowed the Bills to capture the division in Week 18.
One of the players they signed played a big role int he culture shift in Buffalo back in 2017, Jordan Poyer. The Dolphins signed Poyer to a one-year, $2 million deal in hopes to boost their secondary. Instead, Poyer has shown that he has taken a step back when it comes to attacking the ball. He has yet to get an interception this season and hasn’t been the same ballhawking safety he once was.
WR Gabe Davis, Jacksonville Jaguars
There was no chance that the Bills were keeping Gabe Davis after the 2023 season it showed. Davis went back home to Florida where he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars on a three-year, $39 million deal. This was one of the more surprising contracts during free agency seeing as how Davis never reached 850 receiving yards in a season. In Buffalo, he was a boom-or-bust player.
Before going on injured reserve due to a knee injury, Davis was a bust player for the Jaguars. He didn’t have a game above 62 receiving yards and he only had two touchdowns on the year (both in Week 6). Davis’ first year out of Buffalo was pathetic.
CB Tre’Davious White, Los Angeles Rams/Baltimore Ravens
Tre’Davious White had a promising career with the Bills where he developed into a true shutdown corner. He was on his way to a Hall of Fame career up until he tore his ACL in 2021 on Thanksgiving Day. He missed a majority of the 2022 season until late in the year, but looked like he took a major step backwards.
Then at the beginning of 2023 in Week 4, White suffered a torn achilles injury that essentailly ended his tenure with the Bills. Buffalo released White in the offseason and signed a one-year prove it deal with the Los Angeles Rams.
White struggled in coverage all season long with the Rams to the point where they were rumors about both parties looking for a trade to part ways. Leading up to the trade deadline, White was traded to the Baltimore Ravens. Even though he’s been playing better with the Ravens, White was a bad signing for the Rams.
