One of the most enjoyable parts of being a Buffalo Bills fan has to be watching the New York Jets repeatedly trip over their own feet. The Bills' AFC East rival has been one of the worst franchises in the NFL in recent years, and they may be headed for one of their most disastrous seasons yet.

With a coaching staff already on the hot seat and no clear answer at quarterback, the Jets aren't challenging the Bills for the division title in 2026. But according to Bleacher Report writer Gary Davenport, the Jets could take damage outside of the loss column.

Davenport believes that wide receiver Garrett Wilson could be one of the next NFL stars to request a trade. He said, "The Jets are likely to struggle again this year, and it would not be a huge surprise if Wilson decides he is not interested in waiting to see whether they can finally identify a long-term answer at quarterback in 2027, given the franchise's uneven history at the position."

Bills fans could only laugh if Jets WR Garrett Wilson requests a trade

The Jets haven't found many certified stars in recent years. Most of the quality players they've drafted have already been traded away. Wilson might be the only star-caliber player left on the roster, depending on where you place Breece Hall.

The Jets receiver managed three consecutive campaigns with 1,000 yards before missing significant time due to injury in 2025. Even with a rotating cast of mediocre quarterbacks, he has been able to produce at a high level.

New York inked a four-year contract extension with Wilson last offseason and appears ready to make him one of the building blocks of the roster moving forward. But he might be done waiting around for his team to become competitive.

It's not uncommon for NFL stars to request a trade when their teams fail to win games. Recently, Davante Adams and Myles Garrett have been among the names to seek a way out of a disastrous situation.

If the Jets spend another season at the bottom of the NFL standings, it would be hard to blame Wilson for requesting a trade. He has no reason to trust that New York can turn things around in the future.

The Bills certainly wouldn't mind if they didn't have to face off with Wilson twice a year. He has consistently threatened Buffalo's secondary, averaging around 70 receiving yards in games against the Bills. If he does get traded, Buffalo won't have to worry about New York challenging for the AFC East title any time soon.
