Well, it's official -- The Buffalo Bills won't be the number one seed after the Kansas City Chiefs won on Christmas Day to move to 15-1. It didn't matter that the Bills won the match-up between the two teams over a month ago and were the only team to beat K.C. over the last year, they'll likely be the two-seed in this year's AFC playoffs.
Albert Breer broke down what the fallout of this game is and noted that the Bills can clinch the number-two seed if they take care of business against the Jets on Sunday. With the Jets being the same ol' Jets, the chances of Buffalo winning this game are hopefully quite high, and then the Bills can rest their starters in Week 18 against the Patriots.
What would also help the Bills is if the Texans fell to the Ravens later on Christmas. Houston has the tiebreaker over Buffalo but if they lose to Baltimore, there's no way they'd be able to finish with the same record as the Bills.
Bills lock up the 2-seed with a win in Week 17
It's unfortunate that the Bills couldn't catch the Chiefs for the top seed in the AFC playoffs but that just means they'll have to go through Kansas City to reach their first Super Bowl since the 1993 season. Just because the Chiefs got the top seed doesn't guarantee them to host the AFC Championship Game but considering how the Chiefs always turn it on during the playoffs, it's probably best to bank on them being there.
The Bills need to focus on themselves and ensure they get the two-seed more than anything else. Once they do that, it's time to finally try and get over the playoff hump that has haunted this team during the Josh Allen era.
