It’s a new game week for the Buffalo Bills and they are back on their turf for their regular season home finale against the New York Jets. Luckily, this won’t be the last time the Bills play at home this season seeing as how they won the AFC East and have earned the right to host a playoff game, or two.
The Bills have won back-to-back games against the Detroit Lions and New England Patriots by a combined nine points. Their defense has been a major problem the last three weeks and who knows what type of unit will show up against the new-look Jets who have scored 21+ points in four of their last five games.
These two teams met back in Week 6 where the Bills survived an attempted Jets comeback, winning 23-20 on Monday Night Football. The following day after that game, the Jets traded for Davante Adams while the Bills traded for Amari Cooper. One receiver went from one bad situation to another, while the other went from a horrible situation to the best one possible.
That game should not have been as close as it was, but a completed Hail Mary pass from Aaron Rodgers to Allen Lazard to close out the first-half kept the Jets in the game. It would take Rodgers throwing a game-sealing interception to cornerback Taron Johnson for the Bills to escape Metlife with a win.
Buffalo Bills looking to sweep the NY Jets in season series
The Jets are built to beat the Bills. It seems like Buffalo always gets challenged by New York and these games never get out of hand. Last season, the Bills did get a 32-6 win over the Jets but they also did lose to Zach Wilson in Week 1 after Aaron Rodgers went down with a torn achilles. Anything can happened between these two teams.
In the last two years, the Bills and Jets have split the season series. The 2021 season was the last time the Bills swept the Jets. In that season, the Bills beat the Jets by a combined score of 72-27.
While sweeping the Jets isn’t exactly the biggest accomplishment a team can do, it sure would add insult to injury after the Jets were predicted to take the AFC East away from the Bills this season.
