It’s the most wonderful time of the year and it’s been a wonderful year for the Buffalo Bills. A lot of people did not expect them to be sitting at 12-3 and already have the AFC East locked up. Here we are though.

With two games remaining in the regular season, the Bills are looking to stay as healthy as possible and also finish on a positive note against two division rivals in their next two games. Buffalo is coming off a close 24-21 win over the New England Patriots and now turn their attention to the New York Jets, before having to travel to New England in Week 18.

Bills fans have a lot to be thankful for during this holiday season. However, they are looking for more come playoff time. We have seen the same story year after year where the Bills have a great regular season just to fall apart in the postseason. If there was a year for the Bills to win the whole thing, this would be the season.

What should the Bills want as presents under the Christmas tree?

A healthy and productive defense

It’s been a rough three weeks for this defensive unit. They have given up on average over 450 yards per game and they were responsible for the Bills’ 44-42 loss against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14. They have given up 33 points per game the last three weeks and one of those games was against the New England Patriots.

The Bills have had to deal with multiple injuries in the secondary and Matt Milano has also found himself banged up as well. Going into the last two weeks of the regular season, the Bills need to hope that their overall health can get better and that this defense can get back to who they were before Week 14.

A broom to sweep the AFC East

The last time the Bills swept their entire division was back in the 2020 season, which was arguably Josh Allen’s best season aside from this season. In that season, the Bills only losses came against the Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, and Arizona Cardinals.

This season, Buffalo suffered similar losses like they did in 2020. In Week 4, they were blown out by the Ravens. The following week, they failed to make a comeback against the Houston Texans. Then just three games ago, they lost what could be the “Game of the Year” this season against the Rams.

The Bills have yet to lose within the AFC East this year. They have already swept the Miami Dolphins and have a win against both the Jets and Patriots. Now they have the chance to get a gift of sweeping the AFC East over these next two games.

Home-field advantage throughout playoffs

It’s a long shot for the Bills to clinch the No. 1 seed, but anything is possible. However, them getting the second seed is the the most probable outcome for them. Being in the second spot means they would have home-field advantage all the way up until the AFC Championship game, if the No. 1 seed team also makes it.

The Bills do better at home than they do on the road, so having home playoff games would be a great gift under the tree for the Bills.

Josh Allen winning the MVP award

It would be a big shock if Josh Allen doesn’t win his first MVP award of his career. While he is not chasing individual awards, Allen deserves the award ahead of players like Lamar Jackson and Saquon Barkley. With everything that Allen has done for the Bills this season, he has shown to be the most valuable player to his team.

He’s breaking records, re-writing the history books, and he is the best player on the field by a mile every single week. It’s time for Allen to get some hardware on his resume.

The Lombardi Trophy

Isn’t this what every team wants to have underneath their tree? Well, the reality is that we know who has a legit shot at getting the chance to raise the Lombardi Trophy in New Orleans in February. The Bills are one of those teams, but it won’t be an easy road.

For many seasons now, Buffalo’s biggest knock on them is their inability to get past the Kansas City Chiefs in the postseason. They’ve been knocked out of the playoffs three of the last four seasons against them. If Allen and the Bills can somehow and someway get past that hump and earn a spot in the Super Bowl, there isn’t another team that can beat them and we just might very well see Buffalo’s first Super Bowl victory.
