The Buffalo Bills came away with the win against the New Orleans Saints, beating them 31-19. This game was closer than it should have been and at one point, the Saints almost grabbed the lead at the end of the first half. After the Bills scored on their first two offensive drives, they wouldn’t score until halfway through the third quarter.
This wasn’t Josh Allen’s best game at all, some of it was on him and some of it wasn’t. He completed 72% of his passes for 209 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also managed to rush for a touchdown. However, Allen did throw his first interception of the season. It wasn’t necessarily his fault, but it wasn’t the best pass.
After Buffalo’s first 14 points, the offense looked lost at times with penalties, giving up sacks, and some questionable play calling. Now granted, not all of this is on Allen. At the same time, he wasn’t “Superman” like we typically see. Instead, it was James Cook that was the MVP of the offense.
Grading Josh Allen's Week 4 performance
Despite getting a 113.6 QB rating, it didn’t feel like a Josh Allen game. Going up against this Saints defense that has looked nearly awful the last three games, Allen had the chance to lead this offense to a dominant performance. Instead, it was a bit of a back and forth performance.
At the end of the day though, a win is a win and the Bills are 4-0 going into Sunday Night Football. At the same time, the Saints are one of those teams that should not be in any close games against a top tier team with an elite quarterback. Allen didn’t play like an elite quarterback, but he wasn’t bad at all either.
